Has anyone actually managed to get 2.38 quarts of fluid into the rear diff?

Default Has anyone actually managed to get 2.38 quarts of fluid into the rear diff?

I just did my second diff fluid change and once again I could only get about 1.9 quarts of fluid into the diff before it started to ooze out very quickly. I know the 'to-spec' amount is 2.38. Just wondering if anyone has actually been able to put that much in without jacking the rear end up?

I was able to get 2 1/4 quarts in my rear diff. I filled it slow enough to give it time to flow into the axles.

I've heard that was the safe spot. I was just wondering if I was missing something

How long did it take to flow into the axles? I waited about 30 minutes then went back out, backed the jeep up onto 3/4 foot ramps and was only able to put in a little bit more.

That would be more than enough time. I was just thinking it may be possible to fill it too fast.

No, no, no!! Filling to the center line of the axles is inviting a major spooge release through the vent tube! Fill just enough so the oil will enter the axle tubes - no more. If you have a stock diff cover, that would be right where the fill plug is.
