harbor freight electric impact review.
I know know. Some of you guys have bad luck with cheap harbor freight tools. But for a back yard mechanic like me I've had good luck.
I bought the electric impact gun mainly for my lug nuts. My back always hurts. But this gun spun these nuts off in a 3 second rap. Very impressed.
I next tried it on my 35mm front axle nut. (Putting in new ujoint). Wow. Worked awesome. I did a brake job my moms car. Spun her lug nuts like butter.
Now my next test was using it on a ball joint press to press out a seized u joint. Wow. It took a little bit but worked amazing. I tried for a hour with a torch and ballpeen to loosen the ujoint with bad results.
Pros--- cheap. Good for occasional use on jeep. Make short of work on tires.
Cons- heavy. Bulky. Short cord. No case. Very loud.

I use a Craftsman battery powered one. Maybe not as much oomph as the corded one, but this one I can take on the trail with me. It wouldn't take a front axle nut off my buddy's TJ, but I have used it on my control arms and trackbar bolts. Plus it uses the same battery pack as a whole mess of other tools, as well as my little weed wacker.

You kinda derailed your own thread but the needle bearings will turn to dust as the joint fails.

I've had mostly good luck with the HF tools. I like to read their website reviews before buying. I have an obscure brand (don't even remember now) electric impact gun and it has saved my back several times. for the best back saving tool from HF, I have to say it's my adjustable height rolling seat for less than $20.
