Hate to against the grain but my 11 never grinds into reverse or any gear for that matter at most the trans is a little notchy when cold by never never grinds, putting in 1st does help I believe it helps line up the teeth better

Mine shifts pretty good as well -- And all gears, including reverse, seem to be synchronized. Looked at this thread earlier today and thought for sure the Jeep shifted fine into reverse while moving slowly, just tested it a few times on an errand to town. The trans has synthetic MTF in it, but I don't think that makes much difference until it's below freezing outside.

It shouldn't grind going from 4th to 5th. It normally happens when the synchronizers are going out, but a year old tranny should never do this, as long as the clutch is engaged enough between shifts.

Reverse is a pain on this tranny. I have to use alot of strength to slam it over and down.
Anybody ever have trouble with 1st gear?
At a stop light in neutral i have to shift to 2nd then slide to 1st sometimes to engage it.

I think that's a mistake you shouldn't have change trans oil, put it first before reverse you may have a clutch issue, simple check when you are having a problem putting it into gear turn off the engine and see if it goes right in you have a clutch issue if you still experience the problem something is wrong internally to the trans either way something is wrong and you should have it checked out before more damage happens
