ive always just washed mine with fresh water during the winter..other than the parts that get covered in the "protective" rust, the driveshaft, knuckles, etc, it looks great still. there are newer jks around that have much more rust than i do. my job is right next to the ocean as well, so it sees a lot of spray. so far so good! living in maine though, its almost too much work to avoid it, so i just wash it as often as i can.
