Default Gearing Upgrade Question

'07 JKU Sahara, 3.21's, stock tires. Want to go to 4.10's and 33's. What will this do for my towing capacity and should 3.73's be considered? Towing would be kept to a rare occurance but would include up to a car trailer with an MB or CJ.

Thanks

First off if you have an 07 with a tow package you should already have 4.10s

The 07's tow package came with 4.10.

Second if you want to pay to regear go 4.88's minimum otherwise it is a waste of money.

My 2007 unlimited x with tow package had 4.10s. I went with 5.13s and 35s and love them. Like the last guy said I would at least get 4.88 and if you ever think you will go to 35s do 5.13s

Do you have an auto or 6 speed?

Always gear to what you think you might ever do in the future. If 33s is all you ever think you'll want ever. Then go ahead. If you have, even a smidgen, of desire to ever go bigger, then plan your gear ratio accordingly. You only want to spend that money once.

Keep it rare, the JK is just not a toe pig...but you know that, you said it would be rare.

If you have an auto and wi stay w 33's I would think 4.88 gears would serve you better than 4.10's. I had 4.10's w 33's and would have liked the gearing to be a little lower.

If you ever plan to go 35's(and we all do) you'll want 5.13 or 5.38(you may need d44's front and rear for this).

Again, auto only. Can't speak to a 6 speed.

Sorry, should have mentioned it is a 6 speed. I really can't see me going over 33's as this is my daily driver and I have other toys as well. I want more power and the 3.21's don't seem to have it.
