Default Gad mileage sucks !!

First long trip in my 2011 4 door jk Jeesh the gas mileage sucks !! I thought I would get better mileage than I do around town which is about 15.mpg. I instead got 12-13 on a 1100 mile all highway trip avg 80 mph yes I know driving 80 is not very fuel conscious. The good news is the jeep drove fantastic!! Anybody getting the same mileage ?

Do you have a lift? What's your set up? That's super low for a long trip something has to be off!

Welcome to Jeep ownership, although that poor mileage does seem a bit extreme.

Anything over 70mph I've noticed mpg drops like a rock, set speedo at 70 and lean back

For real man.... you are in a jeep not a sedan or small car. 80 is way too fast and honestly somewhat unsafe, especially if you have a lift or anything. Set it to 65 or 70 and relax. If you wanted to travel at 80+ you honestly should not have gotten a jeep. Also, it is quite obvious that cruising at 80 is what is killing your MPG, going that fast will cause your gas mileage to decrease by up 30%. It also depends on what top you have, your lift and many other factors. The most obvious however, if youd like to increase your MPG is to...SLOW DOWN. Good luck

Not only slow down but also try and hook up with a truck, suv, or semi. A Jeep has the aerodynamics of a carboard box, so try drafting behind something bigger. I have found that I gain 2-3 mpg by drafting.

Is your speedo corrected? and Yikes, yeah the 80mph is probably what did it.

With the speedo not corrected you were probably going more like 85-90. That's down right scary!
