+1.....thats a hell of a nice solution

My skid was absolutely beat to hell. It was bad enough to effect the amount of fuel in the tank (lost a little over a gallon). I had my tank replaced due to the being one of the victims of the fuel puking recall/TSB put out in February. The Dealer had to keep my Jeep for an extra day because my skid was so mangled. I guess it took them awhile to pound it back to a usable condition.

Also happy to report I got back my missing 1+ gallon of capacity........of course I am heading up to Rausch Creek this weekend for the first time since having it replaced.

Now that you have added the 3/16" plate and the bottom will not give as much, will the stock brackets hold? I would think that if one part use to give and now it does not, that some other part of the skid will need to give. Thoughts?

It looks to me as though the skid plate bent, but it reached a point that it was supporting the Jeep. The mounts did not fail.

With the stronger steel in place, the skid will still be able to support the Jeep, now with less bending.

I would say it's 3x stronger than the factory. Minimal weight gain and I did it myself.
Nice job!

Looking at doing this this week. After you pound out the dents do the skid bolt holes still line up?
