Default front diff leakage

I was looking under the jeep to check the front axle for cracking, after I got new tires and saw a lot of seepage under the front dif. Not sure if the front diff gasket is leaking or what ? the weird part is I just got it back from the dealer with new ball joints and they did not mention anything. Any ideas what this may be?

Pictures may help, but it really could be anything.

Does the differential/cover have any damage?

Diff fluid smells kind of strong. So if there is a lot of it you may be able to tell by smell if it is diff fluid. However, I doubt there would be enough to create much of a smell, especially if it has been going on for a while.

The other way to check is to open the fill cap on the differential cover and check the fluid level. There are several threads here on how to check the level. Search for differential cover install and some should pop up.

Did you check to see if anything else is dripping onto the differential?

make sure your diff cover bolts are tight. has happened to me a few times.
i think the torque specs on them are 30 ft lbs

Leave it alone and let your dealer fix it.
