Default Front axel u-joint exploded

Hi everybody newbie here this is my first post hope the pic turns out just had my first issue with my jk had a u-joint explode I've read here this is a common issue my question is have they made an after market u-joint yet with full circle clips this is a must up grade .

I think CTM makes one. Looks like you are going to need a new axle shaft too.

ya it doesn't look good hope the warranty covers it have only 26000k on it do you know the the u-joint size.

not off the top of my head but you can order it by vehicle online at any major aftermarket 4wd website.

Maybe off topic a bit, but on the right side of that pic, what is the scraping/burrs/whatever on the black thing? (or maybe - what is the black thing?)

It is an oil slinger according to the parts manua. With the failed u-joint, it had rubbed on the tube.

that black plastic is just a dust cover

if they dont cover it, I would take it home and upgrade to chromo alloy axles and ctm ujoints, they are much stronger then stock. Here is a write up on it

It happened with normal driving the C clip came off and it flew apart I caught it once already and fixed it. This is a bad design I just cant make sense of a half C clip.

Yeah there are few things that just make you wonder what the hell the engineers were thinking. Were you able to safely stop? Lose control at all?
