Pull the clamp handle back and push the front over the bar.

Didn't they change the clamps on the freedom top in mid 08 production?

I see the problem...

Here's you photo, edited. Note the panel gap illustrated.

Here's my clamp, opposite side. No panel gap.

Your panel does not appear to be properly seated. Make sure that the locating pin is inserted into the corresponding hole in the top of the sport bar.

Note that wmcvey's photo shows no gap.

My regards,

Widewing

The clamps were changed from 07 to 08, another thing they changed too was the alignment pin on the tops they are now plastic or fiberglass. Also supposedly not that it matters but they supposedly changed the size of the alignment pin on the hardtop too.

that raises a question for me; my left side clamp (early '08) does not have a rubber pad, the right side was replaced and has a stick-on piece of rubber on the clamp foot; neither looks like the photos. Did they change clamp design, is there supposed to be a rubber foot on the clamp? I'm relatively leak-free, but curious.

That could be another problem; the pins not fitting into the holes in the sport bar. Our course, that can be fixed with a drill. Clearly, in his photo, ruemalin's panel is not fully seated on the sport bar. There is about a 1/2" gap. He should check that the pins go in without interference.

If someone can take a photo of the '07 clamps and post it, all of us could eyeball it for differences in length or configuration. However, the footman loops are unchanged, so the '08 clamps should work fine.

My regards,

Widewing
