If you have more pavement then snow on the road use 2wd but if it mostly snow 4wd is nice. BTW the warning apply mostly when you turn.

I drove around the other day on DRY pavement in 4-hi to test this "or you will break something" theory. Didn't break anything, I did not perform any U-turns but did make sever 90* turns into parking lots and such with no issues.

Parking/tight turns/u-turns i put it back into 2-hi, "normal" driving had no ill effects on my JK in 4-hi on bone dry roads....(open axles/e-lockers, no limited slip on mine which may confuse things)
