Jeep won't start, no problem tow truck and up you go....
boomerang ? just park the stolen car un a mail parking lot and pass pick it up 5 days later if police did not already pick it up from the boomerang, don't forget to disconnect the battery.

Have you thought about where the installer will place it ? On JK's i've seen the Ravelco often placed on left of the steering wheel where off-road light switches are usually placed, but I got the installer to put it under and to the right of the steering wheel so I retain the plug on a short plastic flex chain connected to my key ring and ignition key. Much better placing IMO.

I hear the Mopar hood lock is easy to get into, and I bought and threw away Rugged Ridge hood lock. Only locking device I've seen so far that kept the hood locked was old school : on this forum (forget who) a wire cable wound around the hood lock finger and the frame rail, and secured with a mini padlock.

I got the Rugged Ridge lock if I remeber correctly (got it in 07 when there was not a lot of options) and it has worked great, minus some of the paint chipping off where the key goes it. But it was really easy to install in the front. It wanted you to take the front panel off to bolt it in but i was able to just bend the plastic a little and get it in.


I also have been looking into getting one of those sensors that set the alarm off if it detects something inside the car.

It makes more sense to me that thieves would target vehicles that are ordinary looking and don't stand out from all the others (stock or mostly stock vehicles) rather than go for the Jeep with all the bells and whistles. By this thinking, maybe they'll bypass my Jeep and go for my neighbor's stock Sahara.

this is it, not much to show because all the other detail is hidden behind the lower dash. There’s a metal subframe behind the plug that was drilled to route the wires through.

Had the same problem. My son added a motion detector for me off the factory system which i can use with the top off along with the door's. Have to have the sensor back off a little cause if a bird lands on the seat or speaker bar it will go off...

What I'm saying is immobilizer won't do much when the thief show up with a flatbed tow truck, in the same line, a boomerang type of device is also easy to get around it...

Most of the time when they stole a car / truck they dissemble it, use the part on a wrecked car with clear title. They don't care if the ecu is rigged so it need a special key to run, the engine part, the air bag and much more are still good to be reuse.

it such a big problem here in Quebec that some insurer refuse to insure wrecked / rebuild car, trust me I got that issue with my previous one.

As I said previously, if they do actually get their hands on it by towing it, I don't want it back, which is why boomerang or lojack doesn't work for me. If they want it bad enough to tow it, they are going to get it regardless.

So what is it you suggest? So far you have only stated things that have already been mentioned by other posters. We all understand how a car is stripped and sold for parts. What is your solution?
