Are there any advantages to having the ESP on? I turned mine off and it drives like a different vehicle. It doesn't bog down when you step on it. I also thing that it is better on your brakes and fuel efficiency. Because the ESP isn't always braking to try to control the jeep. Does anyone have a reason that I should turn it back on?

I did the steering wheel dance and it seems like it is off in 2wd. Are you saying it is still on because like I said before it seems like a new vehicle.

Did you try it mine is a 2011. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work in a 2012. I followed the instructions except my jeep was running the whole time. I read where you are only supposed to have the jeep on and not running.

It's not even In the manual anymore. I can still literally spin thru 3rd gear in the rain tho. I can do full off in 4hi holding button for 20 sec. So I'll still be able to play in snow and mud. I think the ESP isn't as sensitive on the 12's

My 2011 is totally controlled by the ESP. If it thinks that the tires might even consider breaking loose is puts the brakes on like now.

Leave that sh*t off...Turned mine off last fall and didn't miss it once all winter. It will never be turned on as long as I own the Jeep.

What exactly is this ESP thing. Don't know how to turn it on or off, don't know if it is on or off.

ESP refers to the Jeep's traction control, electronic stability, roll over protection, blah blah blah, the government thinks you don't know how to drive so they will "protect you" system.

If you haven't turned it off (by following the somewhat convoluted instructions in the manual also know as the steering wheel dance) then it's on. You will notice it if you ever get into some mud or snow and try to spin your tires. The ESP will kick in and "help" by applying the brakes the stop the wheel spin. This will also allow you to become stuck....You can turn it off by using the button on your dash, however this will only work up to wheel speeds of 35mph then it will turn back on even if you've turned it off with the button. The stability control (or no fishtail option) and roll over mitigation are not turned of by the button at any speed and will kick in and apply brakes to help stop a skid or prevent a perceived roll over. You do have a little more control over the ESP when in 4Lo.

I turned mine off with the steering wheel dance last fall and will never re-enable it. I know how to drive a real wheel drive vehicle and can also now have a little more fun in my Jeep.
