Mine engine had to be replaced at 10,000 miles for oil problems. It's a 2010 black unlimited islander

Did the dealership ever say the reason was?!? Do you use synthetic oil or OEM?

I brought it in every 3000 for oil changes by them. When it first started they said it was how I drove it. Then when it happened again they said they were going to rebuild it. When I got it back it ran great then 3 days later the oil pressure light came on and it ate 5 quarts of oil in 3 days so now they are putting a new engine in it. I should be getting it back Monday.

I have a 2010 with 37,000 miles on it. Yes 37k. 100 miles, 5 or 6 days a week to work n back. Anyway, no oil consumption or water leaks. I did just start gettin some knockin for a sec when I start it cold that bothered me. 20 to 30 degrees right now though and I do use mobil filters so I might try something different next time. Mobil 1 syn 5w20.

I had the same problem with my 2010 and I only have 14,500 miles. When I started it in the cold it would knock for 2 or 3 seconds. I was using a mobil 1 filter with mobil 1 synthetic 5w-20 now I'm using a fram filter with the the same oil and no more noise as of right now.

49454, was smelling antifreeze after driving to and from work. Got on the Forum and did a search, finding lots of references to leaking water pump. Crawl under the Jeep after I got home and could see signs of said leak. Called dealership, described the leak and he said bring it in tomorrow, it's covered under lifetime power train warranty (called me back shortly to say pump was on national backorder, bring it in next week). Replaced water pump and made sure the k13 recall didn't affect my Jeep. Gotta live the warranty!

Default 2008 Jeep Wrangler Shara Unlimited

Out of the blue my engine started knocking at 52,000 miles. Took it to the dealer and they told me it was out of oil and that I needed a new engine block. I did purchase an extended warranty for around $700 that covered it,
provivded that I had records of regular maintenance. I provided my oil change records to the dealer, (mobil 1 synthetic every 6,000 miles), and they are currently putting in a new short block. Lesson to learn here, get a warranty and
make sure you do regular maintenance and hold on to the records.

Question, how can this happen if there are no signs of leaking oil, no bad exaust, and no warning light on the dash? This sort of problem should be fixed by the dealer with or without a warranty!
