Default Which Engine Oil for JK

Which engine oil do you use for your JK?

I am between the following two:

1- Mobil 1 5W20
2- Mobil 1 5W20 Extended Performance

I see no reason for using extended for me. I change the oil and filter using Mobil1 5/20 and a Mobil1 filter every 3K.

For the first change should one use synthetic or ordinary?

My understanding from other threads in this forum is that the JKs come from the factory with synthetic. Tolerances are close enough these days that synthetic should be fine (and perhaps better).

i use castrol GTX 5W- 20 I change it every 3,000 miles, if its good enough to keep my warranty intact its good enough for me.

Im not going to spend more money than I have to.. But I am also sticking to the severe service maintenance procedures.

In my old 2005 Acura I changed my oil every 10,000 miles (3 months).
but my warranty was only to 50K miles which I hit just after 1 year.

JK's do not come from the factory with synthetic. It's good ole fashion dead dinosaurs.

Wesson.

I change my oil frequently, so i get Zero benefit from extended anything. Regular old dino turd 5W-20 and change at 3000 miles has never let me down on any vehicle in way to many years to yap about.

If your boat gets floated by synthetics, I am sure those work fine too.

Probably true, but for the cost I'm fine erring on the side of caution, of course I don't let a few hundred miles over concern me either.
