Well I had my sled in to the stealer, and they said it was "normal- relays switching on and off".

i thought something was up with mine. it makes a whaaa bump noise in the acc mode. my friend who works for toyota said it's prolly part of the drive by wire system. he said the toyotas make the same noise when they "adjust" for all the stupid epa shit thats involved with newer drive by wire setups.

The "Relay" answer seems vague to me, wondering now if this particular Relay has to do with the Ignition or what? I've owned a few vehicle's and this is the first that had this noise when ever I open the door.

just put your finger on each relay and wait.. when you feel it click.... bingo. open your trusty owners manual and see what it does.

Its the servo motor that opens and closes the throttle plate.

Good God!, It doesn't even sound like were all talk'in bout the same thing. What some of us have is a kind of low buzz, hum sound that last's appox. 3 sec. when the door is opened.

Negative. I recorded the sound (and posted earlier in the thread). It originates with the TIPM.

Just got my Jeep back from the stealer, and they replaced the TIPM. I tested it out (listened to the radio with the engine off) and heard none of the sounds in question.

Problem solved? We will see...
