yeah they under hood light is a hit or miss thing, along with the insulation under the hood, the foot well lights, I think it depended if the person that installs them on the line was on break when your jeep came past their station they've all been talked about on here

My old 2007 2-door Sahara was built on 8/07 and did not have footwell or hood lights, it did have hood insulation.

My current 2007 4-door Rubi was built on 12/06 and does have footwell and hood light plugs, but no lights. It also has hood insulation. I'm betting that sometime between 01/07 and 03/07 they decided to cut some costs.

If you want to add a really nice under hood light, I had this installed on my Sahara:

Mopar P/N 82210853AB

The stock bulb doesn't put out a lot of light, I replaced it with a 1-watt LED array. Worked great. The retractable housing with magnet really helped to get light where you need it.
