Default E-brake indicator coming on when e-brake not engaged

E-brake indicator coming on when e-brake not engaged. Has been happening quite often usually while I am driving. It eventually turns off but will come back on later... Any ideas on a solution?

I'm not sure about our JK but some vehicles link the brake fluid low indicator light to the parking brake light. Check to see if your brake fluid is low.

Assuming the switch is not maladjusted:
If the light stays on when the parking brake is off, it indicates a possible brake system
fluid leak or low pressure level, or some other brake system fault has been detected.

If your pads are sufficiently worn down, it could lower the fluid level in the brake system enough to trigger the light.
