Default is dot 4 brake fluid what i need?

gonna add extended brake lines so i got my bleeder kit and saw dot 4 brake fluid for vehicles with disc brakes and ABS so i purchased it.. is this the right stuff or should i use dot3?

No. I am almost certain the Jeep comes with DOT3. Check the owner's manual to be sure. DOT4 is silicone brake fluid. The two are NOT interchangable. If you do mix the two, you will ruin every piece of rubber in your brake system. I've never recommended DOT4 on anything except a ground up build or for something that came with it from the factory.

ON EDIT: I was wrong about that. DOT3 and DOT4 ARE interchangable. It's the DOT5 I was thinking of that's silicone. Sorry bout that. Read this: http://www.shotimes.com/SHO3brakefluid.html

The top of the Brake Reservoir says to use DOT 3 only. It's not on the yellow cap. It is embossed in the white plastic.

Along that line, the stuff I picked up when swapping the pads, I think it was Valvoline synthetic, is advertized as both DOT 3 and DOT 4.

my rule of thumb for NON-SILICONE brake fluid is you can go UP on the fluid number because each new fluid meets the specs of the previous number fluid, but you can't go DOWN...
