I had the hardest time figuring out the electrical sockets...
I finally took a look at the socket in the rear passenger compartment to figure out the wire sockets, there is a red safety slide and then a quick connect that comes apart differently then you might think when first looking at it. my . 02

Disclaimer: The only reason I knew is because I broke one on my WJ's tailight assembly when I replaced the housing, couldn't figure out the red tab to save my life, so I "made" it come loose....
