Default Doesnt drive straight.......

Hello Everyone. I have a new 08 JK Rubicon 4dr. It just does not want to go straight down the road, much more noticable at highway speeds. It has 1000 miles on it and has been to the shop twice. The first time it was in the shop they alligned it and said that it was out. The second time they said nothing was wrong. I have checked my tire pressure and I am running 32lbs. Can anyone think of anything that would help my jeep go down the road straight without constant attention to whether I am staying in the right lane? Thanks for everyones help on the site.

Have you checked your track bar? Have you been wheeling - perhaps you've bent it.

does the vehicle pull in a specific direction? have you tried rotating your tires from one side to the other? if yes, you have a problem with your tires..

i guess if not try looking for cracks, leaks, looseness or play where things shouldn't be, etc.

did you take your mechanic for a test drive?

that or a weak or leaky steering stabilizer would allow your vehicle to "go with the flow" aka move with the flaws in the pavement

my stock steering stabilizer was bent and oil was leaking everywhere... this cause lots o' bump steering and steering wheel movement

Yeah good call..stock steering stabilizer could be the culprit as well. I agree with the suggestion of taking your service tech for a ride. Show him whats happening. I almost always do that at my dealership, because it seems if I don't I almost always make 2 trips - one to tell them the problem, and one to tell them the problem wasn't fixed.

My machanic did drive he actually drove it 1/4 tank worth he says theres nothing wrong with it. When they did my allignment they knocked the knockouts and they said the caster is 4.0 is that good enough? Could that number need to be higher or lower? Havent wheeled it yet. Havent had time. Everything is tight I have got under there and tightened every bolt. My steering stabilizer is not leaking but I dont know whether it is good or bad Thanks again Aaron

Question Windy?

When a good gust of wind hits my Jeep it goes one way and I have to bring it back.... It does have the areodynamic prowess of a billboard...

I agree with the above post......wind will move the vehicle around quite a bit. But, I disagree with your dealer. You definately have something wrong. My Unlimited goes down the road on a calm day, just like a freight train. I can let go of the wheel for extended periods and it doesn't wander out of its lane. Take it somewhere else to have the alignment checked. If your dealer is anything like the one I bought my Jeep from, they couldn't even spell "alignment" or "service". Good luck!
