Default Disconnecting the swaybar

Has anyone disconnected the stock swaybar by just removing the bottom bolts and holding the connector up with zip ties or something?

How long does it take, especially to reconnect? And is it advisable to wheel in this configuration?

Thanks!

Yes you can, it can or can not take longer depending on what style of quick disconnect you are comparing it to. Get you a set of gear wrenches, take you a couple minutes for both sides.

Just ensure it is clear of any moving parts, this is how i do disconnect, it is very simple remember to reatach before highway use or the Jeep will be unstable. My friends have quick disconnects not sure what brand but it does not seem to much quicker. Fraction of a minute at best.

here you go. this write up uses a bungie cord to hold up and out of the way, but still shows how to disconnect

You will notice a big difference when wheeling disconnected. Try it and see what you think! Drive down your favorite trail while connected, go back to start, disconnect, and drive trail again to compare the ride and handling differences. When reconnecting, just make sure you are parked as level as possible to line everything back up for bolting. I purchased the Teraflex Quick discos and really like them, you can just use wrenches though.

Found the writeup and more. I thought I had searched first but missed it completely. I'm a moron.

Can't wait to try this.

Is there any possibility of unseating the springs while disconnecting the swaybar? JKS has what looks like a decent offering for quick disconnects for $79 bucks.

I don't think you can use the JKS disconnects without a lift.

Maybe that's just the "quicker" version.
