Mine looks exactly the same. Mine started discoloring with only 100 miles on the meter.

Mine is sitting in the garage, it had about 4,500 miles on it when I took it off. It still looks new, nothing like yours, no discoloring at all. Yours looks more like a Harley pipe than a Jeep pipe.

I noticed that but didn't think too much of it. It was a split second of "why is only half of the muffler discolored"!

Yeah, this is bothering me ... I see some people around town that have mufflers that look brand new - and mine has the orange rusty stripe near the tailpipe exit as well. What gives?

Nothing to worry about. The colouration is due to the exhaust system is made from stainless steel, and the hot exhaust gasses cause these temperature colours.

A good coating of mud covers up any discoloration...

i dont care if it turns pink. i'm replacing it in December.

as it is, mine is turned. I have hammered the throttle in the mud, and i've been towing with it.... so it doesnt surprise me.
you ever look at the head pipes on most modern motorcycles? some coloration is acceptable. if it glows in the dark, however...
