Default Discolored muffler

This is a picture of my muffler after 1,200 miles - is this discoloration normal? From a distance it looks like rust.

The color is caused by the heat.

Default Paint it!

I painted mine black this weekend with 1200 degree flat black barbecue grill paint. Looks killer (and I am picky about details)

Did you crawl under mine to take that pic? I wish it was more uniform - it looks all splotchy.

This particular discoloration was caused by the heat from welding on the tailpipe. Notice that the picture was taken showing the end of the muffler where the exhaust exits.
