difficult to change 4HI - 4LO - 4Hi
I have my 2011 Rubicon CRD since June.
I had several 4X4 in the past.
I am facing some difficult changing from 4Hi to 4Lo and again to 4HI.
Sometimes is very easy.. But other stays in neutral and have to go back to starting position. If you put your foot out of the car and move a bit you can gear it correctly.
On the others offroaders that I had, was very smooth making this change!!
Is it a JEEP thing??
Thanks from Portugal!!!

You might need to trade me for my gas motor JK with the 3.8!
My shifter works great!
Even in the owners manual it says that moving at a slow rate of speed to shift in between neutral and 4lo may be necessary. Sounds normal to me, if you are on a down slope it is always easier to shift through the t-case ranges.

And a kitten is now dead due to your reference to the jeep as something other than a jeep.
fyi- Be careful when shifting. If it binds up you might break one of those crappy bushing things

But shouldn´t I shift when the car is stopped?
I am used to change from 2HI to 4HI in low speed. And stop the car when want to engage 4LO!!! This procedure is normal on most of cars!!

Its not a car!!! Lol
Usually i shift the J E E P in and out of 4hi while stationary or below 20 mph.
Into neutral and 4lo at or below 5 mph Rolling slowly in the J E E P and it works just fine. Granted i also have the advance adapters shifter upgrade, makes it a bit more solid of a shift

Lol.... In Portuguese we have a word for 4X4 car.. is "jipe"... And then we have a brand that is jeep.. Both read the same way...
In English how should I say (in general) a offroad vehicle (4X4)??
I thought when you shift to LO, the gears (tranfer box) were straight-cut, so it should be done when stopped-

You can shift into 4hi "on the fly " going speeds upto 50 mph. 4 low, be in neutral or clutch in all the way and shift as you are almost a complete stop be gentle yet firm. It easier to shift as you slow down covering the brake to stay smooth ..2011jk

The Jeep has 3000 miles!!!!
For what I read from your posts it seems normal...
But I must say on the others 10 4X4 that I had, was not so hard and tricky!!!
Thanks for all your answers...
