Default Death Wabble

So I was driving my Jeep on the Highway yesterday and when I was slowing down and hit about 60MPH I noticed that my Jeep started wabbling and then as soon as it dropped below 60 it stopped. It seems like it only happens when I am in 5th gear, any ideas.

TONS of threads about this. Check balljoints, track bar bushings, tie rod ends ect.... Do some research on here before you start a new thread. Death Wobble is pretty popular and wouldn't be confined to just 5th gear

Death wobble is a pretty violent wrenching of the front tires back and forth. If you've never experienced it before, it will scare the piss out of you. If you're in an adjacent vehicle and see someone experiencing it, it may scare the piss out of you, too.

It usually happens when you hit a bump or rough patch of road. You must slow down the vehicle to stop the DW--dangerously so if on a busy highway.

This doesn't sound like OP's description. Regardless, Planman has a DW checklist that also helps troubleshoot other front end vibrations as well. Find it on the forum and follow it.

I would have the balance checked and rotate the tires. What you describe isnt death wobble.

Best way to figure out if you have a problem in the front end is to have someone start the jeep sit in the driver seat and turn the wheel about 1/4 turn in each direction while you lay under the front end and watch all the joints see if there is any slop. I found several in mine I had the death wobble it was at 45mph I just hit the gas and the front end lifts stops the wobble. Now I fixed all the lose joints and no more wobble. Axles need to stay in one place when you drive.
