Default Dealer "Can't" Flash to Another Tire Size

Hi all,

I went from stock 29" steelies to Rubicon take-offs a few months back. Just had the Jeep in for service and was told their scan tool does not let them change tire sizes on the JK. Has anyone else had this experience, and how did you fix it?

I have seen posts from people who have had the dealer reprogram for tire size.
The general consensus is they can't (or won't) do it for anything bigger than the biggest factory tire size, though.

A ProCal will do it for you, among other things.

I haven't done it (started on the OEM 32s) but have listened to people who have had it done to the 32" size available as a new option when they bought take offs.

My dealer told me they could do it when I had moved up to rubi take offs but they wanted to charge 100 bucks so I passed and saved for superchips, the procal is only 50 more then what they quoted me.

I have had two dealers tell me that on new jeeps they can not relash for different tire size. they both recommended the AEV procal. I was inquiring about a 2013 when I bought mine. I believe if either could have done it they would have.

When I put 35s on my 12 Rubicon they flashed it.. Speedo is right on. Checked against GPS and traffic radar. Low and high speed. Worked great.

i didnt necessarily put larger tires on but when from 16s to 17s (16 inch cast aluminum sport wheels, to 17 inch cast aluminum sahara wheels) - the dealer reprogramed the tpms and wheel size w/out issue.

Supposedly Jeep dealers are able to reprogram up to the size of the largest stock tire used in production which would be the Rubicon tire size.

When I asked a local dealer if they could reprogram my old Jeep up to that size since it had those, they gave me the run-around. The money was much better spent on a programmer.

I plan on getting larger tires either take-offs or 33's with aftermarket wheels. Has anyone found an advantage going with a full programmer over the AEV Procal? Do the programmers really help out the stock 3.8L?

The dealership I go to said the can enter the JK stock size or, if the tires are larger then that they can use a different setting and put in by diameter. I know they did a 35" for a guy when I was there for warranty service.
