Default Darn lucky!

out driving this past long weekend when the CEL came on and the jeep ran like shit. I could here something wrong with the exhaust. I suspected a cracked driver's side exhaust manifold but instead found this



can you see what's wrong?
try this:



not a broken bolt either...it's gone! must have came loose and worked itself out. The rear bolt was loose too, almost ready to fall out. Simple and cheap fix fortunately.

I always have to soak those with penetrating oil to get them to come out.

No kidding. Hated working on those on older vehicles.

Good to see that the computer system and CEL actually saved the day on this issue.

Yeah, in the old days (read: pre-computer management systems) the motors ran better & you got more power when that happenend.

Thas funny. Ya, you'd hear it chugging anyway.

Might not be too good long term for the exhaust valves though.
