Custom hood painting??
This weekend I met a guy at the fair (I know it sounds sketchy already, but he is legit.. Hear me out). He does art with spray paint... His website is w w w.cosmokid.com to see some of what he does, and I will post pics of what I had him paint for me.. He specializes in space scenes, water, planets, and overall very abstract and to watch him do it is amazing...you can youtube it if interested. Anyways.. He did a 20x16 poster for me on Wednesday, I wanted a bigger one for my living room so tonight he did a 2 ft x4ft piece that is just amazing. While waiting for it to dry,I drove the jeep into the fair to his booth (3am, only carnies and security in sight) well as soon as he saw it he wanted to paint the hood. Delima.. While his work is very unique and awesome, I don't know that I like space and planets enough to have them painted on my jeep.. However, I love nature and tree scenes. (not a tree hugging dirt worshiper so then peanut gallery can chill.;-).). And he is also skilled in this "down to earth" type of scene I described... SO. God forbid I decide to do it, and later try to sell the jeep or, decide I hate it or, e paint fades in the Florida weather... How difficult would it be to reverse? Simply have the hood repainted at a body shop? He recommends doing an additional clear coat by a body shop on top of his painting just to protect it better but says that he has done tailgates of trucks that still look brand new 2 years later and never had clear coat put on. Also, I would like to hear general opinions.. Do it? Don't do it? Why?
These are examples of what ge does...

Ok , let's get to the point , it's your Jeep do what you want with it .if we all worrried what everybody else thought all of our Jeeps would have all the same wheels , tires , paint etc. So to the task at hand , yes clear coat over it , hood should be color sanded befor he starts , this will allow his paint to stick better and you will be prep'd for the clear afterwards ( clear wiil peel if base paint not sanded first) As far as later , yes the only way to go back is to have body shop re-do hood

The neys win , 4 to 1...don't do it...lol Already a majority would not want it if you sold it.......its your call are you dying to show it on your jeep, your own statement already was against it.

I seen a truck tailgate that looked similar, but it was probably airbrush. Kudos to the artist for mastering the rattle can, but I guess I'm really not feeling those art pieces. If you like em though (which is all that matters I guess) I would suggest using a decal since it's completely reversible.

If you could get him to do a nice looking curvy lady on there wearing lingerie with some skulls and stuff, that might be pretty cool. Just not digging the 1970's LSD space themes.
Though either way it'll still look pretty ghetto.

I agree with JK-Ford, great Arkansas minds think alike. Obviously you like it or you wouldn't have brought it up. While I wouldn't put it on my Jeep, I wouldn't think you would find it reason to not put it on yours. You also know the ups and downs of doing something like this because you stated it in your original post. It's your Jeep, enjoy it the way you want.
Now if you put 22" chrome rims on it I might have to object.
You know what that art reminds me of?, that colorful art that used to grace the side of Dodge and Chevy vans in the 70's, how many here remember that?
