Um hit the nail on the head with the first statement...

as for is the aftermarket glass stronger then stock?...not sure to tell the truth...it cant be thicker due to mounting...i think it can have tint or no tint...but strength...hum....

Sucks balls though. $150 for a new one....not bad, but still.....
Where in Calgary are you getting a windshield for $150?

It's best to get a chip repaired ASAP before it turns into a crack. I've had to do it twice this year The glass shop told me the replacement windshields are exactly the same as oem but without the graphics. If you want the graphics that'll cost you extra.

Had the heat on this morning, it was on the front defrost and floor setting. after it got too warm I turned the temp setting a little cooler. A few minutes later, what I thought was a rock hitting my windshield, instead a crack
appeared right above the defrost and ran up the windshield approximately 5-6 inches.

Heat related or stress related??
In response to the title of your thread......Yes, every winter since Feb of 2009. Welcome to the club.

Easy Fix
#1 Remove cover on roll cage.
#2 Remove sun visors
#3 Remove The two bars going to roll cage
#4 Remove Windsheild wipers
#5 Remove windsheild brackets on both sides(12 screws)
#6 Flip windshild Down
FINISHED and solved issues with hood feeling like its going to blow off!!!!!!

Note wife might crawl onto floor as mine did. Safty glasses and ear plugs required!!!!!!!

I am afraid to post this now as I might jinx myself. Still on my original windshield, '07 JKU. Gets very cold here with no issues yet. I am sure now that I have posted this mine will break on my next drive. That said pretty much every Jeep in my club has a replacement or is still driving their cracked windshield.
