Post Cooling System Question

So...I've lurked around on the forums for a while now. Now I have a question that I would love some input on.

I have a 2014 JKU Sahara. I'm the original owner and have 21,xxx miles on my Jeep. Recently, I noticed coolant drips on my garage floor and took the Jeep into the dealer for them to see what is wrong as it is still under warranty. Dealer says the radiator is leaking and needs to be replaced. When I pick the Jeep up from the dealer (after radiator replacement is complete) I notice a "rushing water" sound coming from behind the dash every time I start the Jeep and a gurgling noise most times when I shut it off. I call the dealer and describe the nosies I am hearing. They say "air in the cooling system" and to bring it back. I take it back and they supposedly bleed the air out of the cooling system. When I go to pick it up, they tell me that they bled all the air out of the cooling system but that they can still hear the "rushing water" noise when it starts and that I need to drive it for a week or so and see "if it works itself out."

Something about this doesn't seem right to me. I don't like the fact that, prior to the radiator replacement, it NEVER made noises like this and now the dealer's attitude is "lets just see if it fixes itself."

Any ideas about what it might be or how to fix it? Is it something I should be concerned about?

Any help is appreciated!!

Don't have an answer, could be air in the heater hoses, but I've never heard anything like it in either Jeep. It isn't normal. Try putting your heater on in high (open the windows so you don't roast) once the engine is up to operating temperature. If it is in the heater this may allow the air to 'burp' out of the cab and return to the radiator. I would run my heater for at least 15 minutes on full high temperature. With the windows open driving around it may not be too bad inside the cabin.

I thought the same thing. I did the heater thing the first time I got it back but didn't think to do it since they "bled the air out." I will do it again tomorrow and see if that helps.

My 2010 developed that sound after a few years and it went away when I had my coolant flushed and filled. Never tried bleeding it because it started close to the time I was ready for a coolant change but it never went away on its own...

The 3.6 is hard to bleed the air out when servicing the cooling system. I usually bleed it at the heater hose sticking up the highest on the passenger side of the upper engine. Yes, in time it should work its self out though.

I would go back to the dealer and have them fix it. Driving around for a week can cause an issue somewhere else in the cooling system. Air in the cooling system means there is not enough coolant in the system. The 3.6 runs hot with a fully functioning cooling system.

Make the dealership fix it right especiallysince it is under warranty

Just had my radiator replaced too on my 2013 JKU. The noise is from air in the system. It doesn't hurt anything, but it basically takes time to get it all out. Just keep your radiator reservoir tank at the "max" line. As the system gets rid of the air thru the overflow tube that leads from the radiator cap to the tank, it will draw back fluid. It's taken about 1200 miles to finally work all the air out.

Hello, there is a bleeder screw on top of the thermostat housing, loosen it when engine is warm and let all the air out, only takes a few seconds.
