Default Coolant Flush?

I am coming up on two years of ownership of my Jeep this month (26K miles).

Should I have the dealer do a coolant flush before summer?

I think the coolant is good for 5 years or 100,000 mile. shouldn't need flushed

Yes coolant should be good for at least 5 years 100K miles. If the shop is getting you to do a flush at 26K miles...they are jerking your chain.

Thanks guys. I was wondering because I notice some dark sediment at the bottom of my overflow tank.

I have the coolant flushed every 4 years. If there is some type of sediment in the expansion tank you can remove it and clean it out. I wouldn't do a flush at 2 years, it's not necessary. Besides, if you have it done they're not going to clean out the expansion tank and you still might have "sediment" in there.

If I wanna clean out the tank, do I just refill with 50/50 coolant/distilled water?

For what it is worth...the manual says chrysler does not recommend flushing any of the systems...

I have always drained all my rides after about 4 years. Simple drain and fresh fluid in the drive way
