The only difference will be the need to deal with the tucking in or pulling out of the plastic trim edge on the older versions.

Maybe someone who has had both versions will chime in.

Both were good. When I replaced the old top on my 08 JKU, I picked up the new style with the cable. It was easier to work I think. Both are good
