I opened my hood today to fill the windshield wiper fluid and noticed a ton of corrosion around the positive terminal of the battery. This was more than I have ever seen in my life. The strange part is that I wire brushed the terminals and put dielectric grease on it about a month ago.

I took off the terminal clamp and noticed small cracks in the plastic right by the terminal. I am guessing small amounts of battery acid is leaking out and corroding the hell out of the terminal.

I will be calling the dealer tomorrow to see if this is covered by warranty. Do you think it will be covered?

 

Hey Simon that sucks, I would just buy a Optima yellow top, you could use it anyway, its better to use with the winch...4wheelparts has free shipping and its 179 best price i found(god I hate ordering from them but had to use 100gift card lol) I'm thinking the dealer will blame it on the acc. you have wired to it. good luck

Do not get the Red optima. I have had to replace about 6 over the last 5-6 years. The older ones where much better but the new ones are junk.
