but honestly, i was mad at first also, but the more i think about it the more i dont care, im glad i got my shift chirping, sh*tty plastic, no way to get in the back seat (2 door) flimsy hood JK Rubi!!! i dont miss my TJ anymore.. ok a little, but less and less daily!

I'm not going to read this entire thread, but I can tell you how Chrysler resolved this for me, afterall I had bought my JK 6 days before the announcement.
They are offering the lifetime warrantee to anyone who purchased their Jeep in 2007. However you have to purchase the plan. I think the plan is $750 if you want a $100 deductible and $900 if you want no deductible.
I called Jeep and they agreed to pay a significant portion of that for me since only 6 days had passed. So now I have the lifetime warrantee and it didn't cost me much.

Im not going to buy the life time warranty. The way I see it- DC knows most cust will sell their car after 5-7 years. Not all are going to go to dealer every 5k miles and are going to lose it. If I pay $750 and forget to go at 5k miles then I just threw away alot of mods. I hate going to the Dealer for anything if I can fix it myself.
I do have the steering wheel clunk which is starting to bother me. And Im going to try all the fix its that are listed then wait 2-3 hours at the dealer.
Just My 2 cents

This is a Red Herring.
Those of us who purchased our JK's as soon as we could have also began modifications that would void the lifetime power train warranty. That warranty would limit what could be modified and what couldn't be and I didn't buy mine to keep it stock. Why be mad, the principle, I expect to break the power train eventually. (not too soon though)

I missed out on a lifetime of "unable to duplicate customer complaint at this time"
my initial reaction was to feel cheated when I heard lifetime(purchased 2dr RUBI march 20 2007)thats only human but as many others have commented here no one owes us who purchased earlier,if they did would I owe because I got my rubi alot cheaper than people are paying now.besides as someone who has worked in a dealership enviroment as a tech,foreman and service advisor I know you pretty much have to be able to diagnose problem yourself+drive in with failed part duct taped to hood to get satisfaction on any non cut and dry customer complaints so I feel no loss here,so far have done 3/4 of the"warrantable"repairs and adjustments anyways

The lifetime warranty is a sales gimmick, not an attempt to actually stand behind their product. That's why if you miss any of your 5 year "inspections", it's void-- or if you sell it to your neighbor it's void. They aren't backing the quality of the powertrain, they're just giving folks an incentive to buy and crossing their fingers that they don't have to make good on the warranty a decade later.

Its hard enough to get Jeep or Chrysler to fix warranty problems as it is. The customer has to come to near fist fights at times to get the work done properly , if at all.
This is my last Chrysler product too if I have to fight as hard as I did last time to get warranty work done.
The lifetime warranty is nothing but pure marketing shit. The majority of people don't keep their vehicles long enough to use it, especially when they fall apart so early like Chrysler products and they can't get anyone to fix em.
