While I do agree with the majority about the warranty I do have a problem with people's analogies. Come on! Making a capital purchase is not like buying gas and a price change is not like warranty coverage. Although they use it as an incentive it is definitely a policy change. It wouldn't be unheard of to make policy changes like that retroactive to some point.

I'm wondering if anyone have had a chance to read the "fine print" involved in this new warranty. I haven't, but I'm assuming its very easily voided. I take delivery in a few months. Already have a few mods lined up. I'm willing to bet if you add new exhaust, lift, get bigger tires, or even add a K&N intake....you void your precious warrant. I'm sure as hell not going to de-mod once every 5 years for they're inspection.
So, I take it with a grain of salt. Its probably a great warranty for those of you who are planning never to mod...as for me, I'm happy with my 3/30...

New programs have to start at some point, and as Dubya said, it's time for a new production calendar. And don't forget Chrysler has changed ownership, perfect time to build loyalty. I am willing to wager that if they were only active on 08's The dealers would have a hell of a time selling their remaining 07's.
I bet the engines will hold up fine and even the trans if mods are done correctly and you MAINTAIN YOU VEHICLE. I understand piece of mind is nice.
On a personal note, I have never really preferred the local dealers to do repair work for me anyway. (again just a preference)

I'll start by saying "I buy a Jeep, modify it how I like, and drive it for a long time". I've got a 2007 unlimited ordered back in 2006. I took the time and went to the "stealer" to get a copy of the "limited lifetime powertrain warranty", to see if I should be getting a NEW Jeep under the "unlimited warranty". Of course it covers the engine and internals, but not the PCM. Trans and axels are covered..... But whats gonna fail a Jeep in 10yrs and 200K? Based on my experience, probably the auto trans, and PCM (PCM is not covered) plus alot of other things that are not covered. IT REALLY IS A GIMMIC TO SELL MORE CARS, not of much "real" value to the everyday consumer. I'll keep my Jeep and love it none the less.

I can't believe some of the comments of this thread. Chysler doesn't "OWE" anything to us other than what the contract and incentives available at the time of purchase. They didn't have to offer incentives to sell the jeep at the start and quite frankly I am shocked that they even extended the latest lifetime powertrain warranty to the wrangler's. Have we grown to a total "intitlement" society that a business "owes" us somthing simply because they have changed the incentive program. It is a free country and if chysler wanted to change the warranty on the 07's sold from 8/1/07 to 9/ 1/07 and make it 10 miles or 1 week which ever comes first they are certainly free to do so. That being said, a person is also free to never buy a chysler product again. The company is willing to bet they are going to win alot more customers than the piss off. Free market economics is what makes this country great, Think about it, the whole idea is to get more people to buy your products. How could retroactively offering a warranty be good for chryler. I have yet to see one jeep for sale because of this. OK I am ready for the flaming. Let it begin.

Thanks for the correction. I guess the oxygen was a little thin while standing on my soap box. BTW, I have to say, I think your avatar is great.

Business is business. It's give and take. I bet you could find much better reasons to stop buying DCX products, but this doesn't move me. By the way, I bought a couple of weeks ago, and I probably didn't get the lifetime deal either...

Be happy... you drive a cool vehicle!
X2^ They already got your money - you were willing to settle for the terms that were offered at the time of your purchase.

An old saying comes to mind: Why buy the cow when you're getting the milk for free?
