check out reply from chrysler about lifetime warranty
This is what we wrote to Chrysler
I am apalled!!!!!
Comments:
I cannot believe what I am seeing, LIFE TIME POWER TRAIN WARRANTY FOR
ANYONE
AFTER JULY 29TH, I purchased my brand new Jeep approximately 90 days
ago,
how can you feel that this is a good business practice midway thru the
year
to offer such a warranty when those of us who did not wait to buy and
kept
you in business are getting the shaft. This is the first vehicle out of
approximately 10 that I have not purchase a FORD vehicle. I will
however,
never buy a Jeep/Chrysler vehicle again after this situation. If you
were
going to offer this type of warranty, it should have gone with the 2007
Jeeps across the board, not midway thru the year because you are trying
to
attract more customers. My wife drives a Durango, and my mother in law
drives a Jeep Cherokee, I can assure you that if this is not rectified
you
will definitely have lost 3 new sales this year and sales of anyone
that we
can help to avoid the same disappointment. The thing to have done would
have been to make sure that this program came with all of one
product/year
and then continued not mid way thru the year and forget about the other
guys who were anxious to buy your newest product. Chris and Karla

There response
Orlando Dear Christopher :
Thank you for contacting the Jeep Customer Assistance Center regarding
the lifetime power train warranty.
Thank you for your recent purchase. We are concerned that you feel
penalized for buying your vehicle when you did. Your purchase
represents an outstanding value that will provide many years of driving
satisfaction.
We regret that your purchase does not qualify for the Lifetime
Power train Warranty, but appreciate having the opportunity to review the
matter with you. We understand you want to take advantage of the best
deal possible when purchasing a new vehicle and you most likely received
the best possible warranty on the date of your purchase.
Our special sales programs are intended to create goodwill with the
buying public and to provide purchasers with an even better value for
their dollar in a specified timeframe. Inevitably, however, some
customers feel penalized when they are unable to qualify within the
guidelines of the program. We regret you were unable to participate in
the program. Unfortunately, we are unable to retroactively offer the
Lifetime Power train Warranty.
Thank you again for your email.
Sincerely,
Myndie

Funny, that looks amazingly like the personalized hand-canned response i received when i complained about the crappy plastic, and the stalling issue, and the radio cutting out, and the transmission lock being screwed,
etc...
etc...
etc...
etc...
Nothing like a nice healthy EFU from the parent company to start your day huh?
I find this to be complete bullshit.
I purchased my '07 at the end of '06, therefore it isnt covered, but the '06's that are still on the lot and where built BEFORE mine ARE covered, and any '07's being sold after the magic date are. That leaves a large group of us swinging in the wind.
I feel buttraped.
No, in all likelyhood I probably wouldnt benefit from it as i will mod my jeep and likely void it anyhow, that is NOT the point.
The point is, as i stated above and it is something that i strongly feel that myself and EVERY OTHER PERSON WHO BOUGHT A DC PRODUCT in that grey zone should be included in. I know others dont agree, that is there right, this is mine.

I don't get why you're appalled. Did you expect different? It doesn't make business sense to make it retroactive...this has been talked about in length already.
Its just a powertrain warranty..its not like it covers the whole vehicle...I don't see why that would sway you from buying new DCX vehicles.
I mean, no offense intended, but you sound completely irrational in that email you sent.

Umm, why are you so upset? This to me is normal practice for just about any company that sells anything.
Store lowers price on Widget A today. Should you get money back from your purchase from 90 days ago? No...
Extending a warranty costs the company a lot of money. They figure it will help future sales.
While I wish I could get the new warranty terms extended to cover my vehicle from Feb purchase, I am not 'upset' that they aren't doing it.

The lifetime warranty is a sales gimmick, not an attempt to actually stand behind their product. That's why if you miss any of your 5 year "inspections", it's void-- or if you sell it to your neighbor it's void. They aren't backing the quality of the powertrain, they're just giving folks an incentive to buy and crossing their fingers that they don't have to make good on the warranty a decade later.
Seriously, I doubt we're missing out on much.

Exactly doojer, I agree. Come on people, it's an incentive just like a rebate. It you bought a vehicle 2 months ago, and now they are offering a $3000 rebate, guess what.....your in the same boat, because they sure wouldn't go back and cut you a check for that rebate. Hell, DC isn't making money as it is (except off of us Jeepers), so maybe they should retro this for all Wranglers at least. I'm not saying that it's not BS, but it's marketing. I guarantee you it's not as good as it sounds. Just like doojer said, were not really missing out on much.
