Default Changed PCV valve, found missing oil

I changed my PCV valve tonight. The write-up on this forum was excellent (https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...ling-PCV-Valve).

I have 22K miles on a stock 2010 and am burning 1qt every 2500 miles using dino 5w20.

I work for an organisation that maintains a vehicle fleet. After hours you can work on your own vehicle with a mechanic on duty to assist. I explained the oil issue to the mechanic and he said trying a new PCV valve was a good start. He told me to disconnect the hose at the intake side and look for oil there. Sure enough, that side was wet with fresh oil. I cleaned both ends of the PCV hose, installed the new valve and put everything back together. We'll see if this improves anything.

I hope the new valve solves your oil consumption

It seemed OK as far as I could tell. It didn't appear stuck open or defective.

FWIW, the new valve's rubber covering seemed a bit bigger in diameter. The old one was tight in there though, and I had to use the tie-wrap trick to pry it out.

Interesting thread.
Bad PVC can lead to oil consumption.
