Change oil filter without draining oil?

The AC "knock" which is more like a squeal is its own issue. I doubt that the oil filter and the AC being on or off have any connection other that they can both cause noises.

I usually drain my oil 10K km but I changed only my oil filter at about 5000km and replaced with a new one several times on my CTD b/c I am running full synthetic Mobil 1. I just have to top up the oil after I replaced the filter with the new one.

Fords....Motorcraft FL-400s worked best for me.

I might try this one next and see if i is completely knock free. Overall the Mopar is pretty good, but if the Jeep sits few days I can detect a hint of knock.

never had the need to change the filter without changing the oil on either of my Jeeps, so I have never even thought of doing this.
