After I did a little more research on Meguiars it turns out that they DO have a wax which will not stain vinyl or plastic parts:

Meguiars "Ultimate Liquid Wax" part # MEG G18216 ~$25

Although you can safely wax your Jeep around all the black plastic parts, it is not intended to wax these parts. But, if you get any of this wax on them, it will NOT stain!

Also, according to their Customer Service Dept you can use

Meguiars "M-39 heavy duty vinyl cleaner" 16oz ~$10
to remove old wax residue.

Unfortunately, the OP stated he already tried this product AND peanut butter. :(

At least we know what WAX to use from now on. Hope this helps.

All best, Joe
Its true and it works great. I posted that in this thread last september too!

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. That's what I've always used and it's worked great.

Old thread that is reborn. Maybe this will help someone. I have a matte black ducati. It picks up every smudge, fingerprint, everything. Drip a spot of gasoline on the tank while you are filling it then wipe it immediately and you then have a nice white streak across the tank. This solution came directly from my Ducati dealer for cleaning and fixing and applies the same to the plastic parts as well. They sold me a spray can of sebesto brake cleaner. It is a very mild brake cleaner. You simply spray a small amount on to a micro towel and wipe the area down. This works like a charm and leaves no white marks or residue.

Use an old soft tooth brush on all exterior plastic. It gets the wax out of the texture of the plastic.

I use a cheapo 2 power heat gun and then immediately rub it down with wd40. I spilled a whole bottle of meguires on it once and you would never know, they look brand new.
