Standing in front of the Jeep, stick your hand on the upper radiator hose and follow it to where it connects to the engine. Look at the engine directly under that and slightly to the passenger side. You'll see a wiring harness going to the sensor housing held in by one bolt. You can't miss it.

The computer monitors the cam position sensor and its circuit. It will throw a code for quite a few reasons.
What is the code you are getting?

the code we are getting is p0300....which I know what it says...but since we have checked and double checked everything we are thinking it could be a bad sensor here????

The computer should be able to see if the cam sensor is bad, and throw a code for it.

How is the engine running?
Anything that affects the speed of the crankshaft can cause a misfire DTC.
When a Misfire is detected for a particular cylinder, the PCM will shut down that cylinder's Injector Control circuit.

Did you look at these things:

Turn the ignition off.
- Visually inspect the engine for any of the following conditions.
- Worn serpentine belt
- Binding Engine-Driven accessories: A/C Compressor, P/S Pump, Water pump.
- Misalignment of the Water pump, P/S Pump and A/C Compressor pulleys
- Corroded PCM power and ground circuits.
- Improper CKP, CMP, MAP, and TP Sensor mounting
- Poor connector/terminal to component connection. i.e., CKP sensor, Fuel Injector, Ignition coil, etc.
- Vacuum leaks
- Restricted Air Induction system or Exhaust system.
- Internal engine component failures.

For P0300, Multiple Cylinder Misfire, did you cover all the items below?

Possible Causes

(F342) ASD RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT

INJECTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT

COIL CONTROL CIRCUIT

IGNITION WIRE

SPARK PLUG

IGNITION COIL

FUEL PUMP INLET STRAINER PLUGGED

RESTRICTED FUEL SUPPLY LINE

FUEL PUMP MODULE

FUEL PRESSURE LEAK DOWN

FUEL INJECTOR

ENGINE MECHANICAL

POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)

Thanks for the reply. Yea JKgirls jeep is running like crap. So far I have changed both upstream o2 sensors, changed plugs, wires, egr valve. cleaned throttle body,( very dirty). About once a month I put in fi cleaner.. ..

Everything I do seems to work for about a month, then the engine light comes back. p0300,

Well, knock out all the items you can in post #6.
There is a lot of troubleshooting in the FSM for this code. The bad thing is it takes the dealer's scan tool to do most of it.

If the cam sensor and crank sensor are not too expensive, you could always try replacing them.
Otherwise, you have to take it to someone with a scan tool.

Yes. I don't know what "value" it normally has, but all you have to do is measure the resistance value with an ohmmeter. If it outside a certain range, it's bad.

....and the wife probably wouldn't like us drinkin beer and talkin Jeeps. I'm sure I would, though. LOL

Have you tried plugs? That's a random cylinder misfire code.

Nevermind. I see you have.
