Wild Post! I like your Mod.. When did the JK not have a cabin air filter by default?

Hate to drag up an old thread, but I've been racking my brain, and the internet looking for the part # or name of the 'accordion hood/door' ? I was messing around with mine and broke the white clip (which I've heard is common). I've been looking on Amazon and RockAuto and can't locate anything. I'd appreciate it if anyone had any insight!

That's part of the whole blower motor housing; not listed separately in the parts book.
Best bet may be a junk yard.

Well I appreciate you knowing what it is, it sucks to find out I can't order just that part. It also doesn't look like I can order the blower motor housing either. I guess I'll have to find a junkyard to head to.

So I've been looking into this also for my 2010 and i can't find any real answer on the differences between a 2010 blower motor housing and a 2011+. I know the 2011+ has the filter slot but other than that would it bolt up and everything to my 2010? anyone have any incite on this? i'm not sure how much the firewall changed on the 2012+. Morris 4x4 sells the housing and i need to do my heater core so if this is a possibility i figure why not.

To me, that looks like way too much time and money -- Here's what I'm going to try:

I recently ordered Mopar part # 68235887AA which is a cabin filter access door from a 2011 JK. I believe it will directly replace the fixed plastic screen in the 2007-2010, and be a "cleaner" install (pun intended) than just cutting it. Also ordered a pair of filters for a 2011, part # 68233626AA. There's also probably going to be something minor like adding weatherstrip foam tape to fill any gaps on the sides, or maybe I'll make a tray for the filters.

Here's the write-up I did using a 2011+ JK cabin filter, 2011 filter access screen door, with a custom filter tray: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-w...8/#post4322958

It's funny that no one really understood what all of those parts are. The fact that Jeep does not include the cabin filters from the factory when the car is built is probably what keeps the backyard mechanics from being able to get it. That whole housing is for the cabin air filters. turn the recirculation button on and the white door moves up and exposes the filter or filters. You release the plastic screen that holds the filters in. take the left one out and the right one will be able to be moved over to the left and removed.
reverse process for reinstallation.
