A/C question

My '11 does the delay to dash vents also. Seems like it takes about 7-10 seconds before air comes out those vents. Never seemed like a problem since both the ones I test drove did it and mine has done it since day 1.

My 08' never did this but my 11' does. Might be the ac turning into "closed mode" when ignition is turned off, like other vehicles (my bimmer) do this to keep out hot/cold outside air.

Like I and others have said, I think the delay before the A/C starts blowing is normal. I am just not sure about the air always starting with the floor vents then switching to the dash. It is interesting though that the length of the delay in switching is proportional to how long it has been since the car last ran. If the Jeep has only been sitting an hour or so, it switches pretty quickly (1-2 seconds). After sitting overnight, it can take 5-10 seconds to switch.

Since it does this on other's Jeeps as well, I am going to assume that this behavior is normal and live with it. I wonder how long until that flapper door wears out from all of the switching?
Thanks for the info.

My 08 didn't do this but my 11 does. After some more thinking I figured out why, and now I'm glad it does it. I think Jeep decided to do this so that when you start the car on a hot day you don't get immediately blasted with a face full of hot air. It gives the air conditioning a little time to catch up before blowing air in your face.
