Burning smell when accelerating hard

I had this issue before. It was the foam underneath the engine cover. Pop the engine cover off and go for a drive 4000rpm a couple of times if the smell is gone look for burnt spots on the foam. I just trimmed the parts that were setting on the alternator.

Default Burning rubber smell

That was it I lifted the cover off and I saw burnt crusty foam right over where the alternator is. So I took it off took some scissors and cut out that piece. No more burned rubber smell.

Look for black soot coming from the exhaust pipe, where the muffler connects to the mid pipe and where the mid pipe connects to the engine exhaust pipes.
