I was expecting you or Redneck to chime in with fold the windshield down.

Cheap fix that works great: take soaking wet paper towels and stretch them across the windshield. In a matter of just a few minutes, you can gather up the towels in your hands and the bug gore wipes right off.

Nope, they have some kind of white soapy stuff in them.

They also work great for taking the bugs off the body.
I use them all the time on the MH.
As for the windshield and bugs, I use a sponge with a nylon cover, like for non stick cookware, and Invisiglass.
Works great.

dryer sheets generally have two main components on the fibers (besides perfumes or whatever)

a surfactant (detergents are examples of surfactants) and a fabric softener, which is basically a lubricant, it can be different things like an oil or soap or fat or even silicone derivative.

in the laundry, the surfactant kills the static charge and the lube makes everything feel soft.

On the dried-up bug splat, the surfactant helps "wet" the splat so it'll wipe off.

i ordered the scrub blades. the windshield is so flat that the bugs just splat instead of floating over like on some other autos

I use a hood deflector on my JK, for smaller bugs it creates an airstream that basically lifts the bugs over the windshield. Larger bugs dont make it and splat they go...just got to keep at it on a weekly basis..
