Broken Engine Part?

Broken Engine Part?
As I was washing my engine, i noticed an oil stain. Most likely normal, but caught my eye. As I got closer to look i Noticed wht appears to be a snapped off part of the engine. Ther is a rugh edge where the piece looks to have broken off of. With an empty threaded hole behind it. maybe where it should be? Almost centered in all photos. Help please!!!
