Default Brake Line Recall

Hey everyone,

I took my 2007 Unlimited in for the brake line recall and they said they needed to replace the lines because of the chaffing on the fender wells. But they said that they can't get the replacement lines until April. Does that sound right to everyone? Is it safe to be driving until they are replaced? I asked the dealer these questions and they said yes and yes to each. Wanted to get everyones opinion. Thanks.

They shouldnt need to replace the liners, they need to replace the brake lines and trim the liners, R u sure this isnt what they meant.

They are replacing the lines not the inner fender liners.

As long as they did the trim so there is no further rubbing I think u will be fine. If not, at least u have someone to sue I dont think they would tell u if they were not safe, dealers always trying to cover their ass

I took mine in on January 28th for the Fender Liner recall. I asked how long it would be and the service advisor said that they need to do an inspection. If the brake lines need replacing it would be about three hours, about an hour if they are just trimming the fender liners. In the end they replaced the brake lines. They must have had them in stock.

I suspect that if there is any sign of wear they replace the brake lines, even if they are still safe to drive with.

I just thought it was strange that the brake lines would be on back-order until April. Of course when I had them do the 1st gear synchro issue on my '08 it took even longer to get that in.

Since my wife and daughter drive this I thought it would be a good idea to check with you guys.
