Brake light question
Hi all I am 1 week into owning my Jeep and first let me say, this is the GREATEST vehicle I have ever owned. OK now my quick question. With the engine running and the emergency brake applied is it normal for the brake light to flash not stay on steady? Don't know if it matters but it's a 6 speed Thanks

If you are talking about the word "Brake" in the instrument cluster:
It will be on steady when the parking brake is applied, and will flash when the vehicle is put into motion.
For the automatic, it will flash as soon as the selector is not is park or neutral.
Does yours flash when in neutral, and your foot off the clutch?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I am talking about the word "Brake" if I have my Jeep idling with the parking brake applied and in neutral, my foot is not on the clutch and yes "Brake" flashes it doesn't stay on steady.

OK, we have heard from a 6 speed driver how it is supposed to behave. This agrees with what is written in the owner's manual.
Regarding the parking brake warning light, the only reference to there being a problem is when it stays on when the parking brake is released.
I can find no reference to what it means, if anything, when it flashes while not moving, (6 speed), or in a gear other than park or neutral, (automatic).
