At 35K miles my 2-door 6-speed with 3.21s averages about 3-5MPG better than it did for the first 5K or so miles. What wheelbase, transmission and diff ratios you have will determine how much of an increase you notice.

Right around 3000 miles I started noticing a big change in fuel economy. I know this because for the first 3000 miles I was doing a lot of driving and I kept being disappointed that in spite of driving as nicely as possible I couldn't average anything higher than 19.5 mpg calculated by hand (even with 95% highway driving). I specifically sought out a JK with the 3.21 gearing and 6-speed with the 32" tires to try to get the best mileage possible so needless to say I was starting to get disappointed.

However after 3000 miles I started noticing that I could start to average over 20 mpg on the highway. At 5000 miles or so I changed all the fluids over to royal purple and ever since breaking it in and swapping all the fluids to synthetic I can get 23+ mpg on the highway.

So in all my JK probably increased by about 2 - 3 mpg after break-in. Your results may vary though

Yep had a 2008 Sahara unlimited with 373 gears and would avg 19 mpg around town and up to 24 mpg on the highway stock setup. My 2010 Rubi unlimited with 410's averages 17mpg around town and 20 mpg on the highway stock. Auto trans on both.

My increase came ~6,000 miles on the odometer. I went from 17MPG to 19MPG. (I record mileage every fill up). With my 37's I'm down to ~15MPG but it looks good doing it.

I'm getting close to 3000 miles on my 2011, auto 3.73 gears trac-loc rear axle.

I've seen a slight increase, 1 - 2 MPG since I got her new. I expect to see another 1 or maybe 2 MPG as I approach 6 or 7,000 and the weather starts to warm.

So far the best I've had is 19.6 (the computer said 22 mpg).
