Banging snow off soft top
#12
I never had a problem w/the TJ soft top either. Light punch on the soft top to get rid of the snow, just like everyone is saying just don't go crazy w/the punching. As far as the plastic windows I didn't have a problem w/them either. I remember once it had rained and it was frozen on the windows, just a light punch took care of it....but again experiment at your own risk

what about deicer sprays!?! my dad used to to use this spray when i was a kid and i think it had alcohol in it and it would start to melt away the ice?? idk if it would have any effects on the plastic.

I was driving in the snow last night and it must have built up some ice/snow mixture across the front edge of the soft top. It started making a loud whistling noise. The faster I went the louder it got. At first I thought that the rubber seal had gotten so cold it shrunk and was causing an air leak. I tried banging on the inside of the roof to try and knock the snow off but it didn't help. When I got to where I was going I got out and tried to pull some of it off. It didn't make the sound on the way home....
This happened to me on the way home from work today...heard some ice rolling off the back and then a hissing almost like radio interferance and then a loud wind noise...i stopped got out and there was a chunk of ice on the windshield header...i broke it off and it didnt make a peep since.

They're not usually recomended on the soft top & plastic windows due to the chemicals they contain.
